He’s the first person you’ve ever met who speaks in bullet points. In fact, he sometimes more resembles a collection of studied gestures than a mere mortal, so much so that he gives the impression that everything about him is calculated, including the impression that everything about him is calculated. Which can make him seem like a Big Thinker but also like a complete phony — an unsettling combination.

The impression I get is far worse than Calculated Phony. It’s racist, insincere, manipulative, lying sack of shit. This is a guy who points fingers at others when his history of wrongdoing is examined; who claims to be sorry for his cruelty, but then displays unrepentant rage when that cruelty is pointed out. He’s an egomaniac and a danger to this country. Those who support him are dangerous, because they are the kinds of people filled with indignant, childish, and uncritical anger. They are people who want the United States to revert to a Norman Rockwell painting, and don’t see the inherent hatred buried in that delusional wish. They have contempt for diversity and all those Not Like Them, which they express in racist code (“Food Stamp President” and the “Welfare Recipients” they paint as subhuman dependents) or overt xenophobia (any and all discussions of immigration).

People like this scare the crap out of me.
